When Jesus selected and called His disciples, He was saying: "I believe you have what it takes to be like me." Those He called weren't the cream of the crop, they were dropouts, flunkies, and those deemed as failures. This serves as a reminder that Jesus doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies those He calls to join Him.
