Power Moves (Week 4): The Way of The Cross
SERMON SUMMARY:
On Palm Sunday, we explore one of Jesus’ most challenging invitations: the way of the cross. In Matthew 16, Jesus reveals that real life isn’t found by holding on—but by letting go. While we often want growth, change, and new life without sacrifice, Jesus shows us that the way to new life runs through death—death to control, comfort, sin, and the life we try to build on our own.
Standing at the “gates of death,” Jesus declares that death doesn’t get the final say anymore. Through His cross, He defeats death and makes a way for us to experience true, lasting life. But that life requires surrender.
This message challenges us to ask: What in my life needs to die so something better can live? Whether you’re exploring faith or have followed Jesus for years, the invitation is the same—trust Him enough to walk the way of the cross and step into the new life He offers.
